My first real dye job became my first real shawl. I've blogged about it a few times: when I first started it, and again recently when I picked it up again. I finally finished it last week, and tonight I went up to perian's to block it. I start a lot of projects, but don't finish them very quickly or very often, so some of you may wonder if this is true. However, I've come prepared! Here's the proof!

Froggy Knitter
I am a French-Canadian frog - slightly crazy, very geeky, and a bit of a perfectionist. I hand-dye yarns under the label Faking Sanity. I've recently started spinning. I've been crocheting since 2004, knitting since 2006, and frogging 3/4 of what I make the whole time. I am the froggy knitter; welcome to my crafty home.

Fibrefest
Fibrefest's are fun little events! I went to my first one before I started this blog, but that trip introduced me to spinning and got me started on that journey, so it seems fitting to post about it here, at the beginning of this new blog.
-----
We went on a little weekend vacation to a small fivrefest outside of Vancouver. It was a great trip (but why is it that the ride home always seems longer than the ride to any destination)? Oh, well... I took pictures of the cutest animals, and picked up a bit of handspun yarn… and some bamboo fiber. Up to that point, I had not had any prior interest in spinning, but the fiber caught my eye the moment I saw it, and I just had to get it. I love bamboo, and this was a deeply staurated egyptian red bamboo top at a price that seemed incredibly good (I have since learned to spin, and I do love that bamboo spun up). The Fibrefest was a pretty small one, but we had lots of fun and I was glad I went. And now, a few of my favourite pictures from the trip: yarn before it’s yarn!

In the beginning...
A few years ago, my little group of friends (aka the Dork Squad) started a shared knitting blog over at Faking Sanity's Twisted Stitches blog. Over the years, a few have stopped posting all together, while others, like myself, have delved into other fiber arts. I started crocheting in 2004, knitting in 2006, dyeing yarn in 2008 and spinning in 2009. My hand-dyed yarns are also now available under the Faking Sanity label.
This summer, a friend and I moved and bought a used bookstore/cafe in Northern BC, so there hasn't been much time for crafting of any sort, let alone blogging about what little I did do. Now that we're a little more efficient in our routines, though, we've started hosting a craft night at the store, and I've started knitting, crocheting and dyeing again. The spinning will have to wait a bit - I sold my first wheel before the move, and need to make a small purchase for my new one before I can use it. At any rate, I'm looking forward to getting back into fiber arts, and thought that I'd like to blog about my artsy journey, without feeling like I'm taking over the shared blog. Hence, the Froggy Knitter blog...
